Central Western Daily Negatives
The CWD Negative Collection, owned and administered by Orange & District Historical Society, comprises the negatives of all images taken by the Central Western Daily newspaper’s photographers from 1955 to 2000.
The images cover all aspects of life in the Orange district, from general news to accidents, schools, workplaces, agriculture and social events.
Much work has been done on digitising the collection, with valuable assistance from Orange City Council, revealing the scope and quality of the images.
An exhibition in 2019, ‘All in a Day’s Work’ was mounted at Orange Regional Museum, focusing on working people in the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s. It won a NSW Museums and Galleries IMAGinE award for best in its category.
