HistoryPlans for the theatre to be built in Summer Street were prepared in May 1926. It was estimated to cost 12,000 pound and to be named The Palace, opened on 29 November 1926. The building was designed by Mr. JE Lundholm, with the work completed by Mr Parlsow late in 1926. Built of brick, cement and plaster lined for 1,140 seats, the building took the name of Theatre Orange.
It was later remodeled and renamed the Coronet in 1955 and was sublet to Village Cinemas from 1970s to 1984. The building closed in 1988 and was converted to a nightclub in the late 1980s.
